The University offers both a Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree program and an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies (AALS) to provide interdisciplinary majors that allow students to pursue broad interests or develop a specialized program in areas where majors are not currently offered.
The BLS option is designed by the student and the academic advisor to ensure a comprehensive academic experience, while at the same time affording flexibility in fulfilling requirements. The BLS may serve as a terminal degree or as preparation for graduate school, professional school, or employment in business, government or industry.
The AALS is a program of 64 credit hours. It provides access to many courses within program guidelines that include a strong core of foundation courses and that allow students to study selected disciplines in-depth.
Several concentrations are available in addition to the General concentration. Each is the result of interdisciplinary planning among faculty members. The aim of each is to provide workable guidelines for students interested in Business, Communication, Creative Writing, or Social Science.
