Withdrawal, Drop, and Refund Policy
Student charges will be refunded to students who are voluntarily withdrawing or dropping courses from the University of Maine System institutions in accordance with the schedule and provisions set forth below.
For refunding purposes:
- Withdrawal is defined as students who give official notification of their withdrawal to the University from all courses after a semester/session has begun.
- Dropping courses is defined as a reduction in course load during the add/drop period while remaining enrolled at the University. A refund or credit will be issued for a course(s) dropped during the add/drop period.
- Withdrawal from a course(s) is defined as a reduction in course load after the add/drop period while remaining enrolled at the University. No refund or credit is issued for course load reductions after the add/drop period.
- The application, matriculation, and orientation fees are not refundable. Students who leave the university without official notification (dropouts) are not entitled to refunds.
Determination of Attendance
For purposes of calculating refunds, the attendance period begins on the opening day of scheduled university classes, includes weekends and holidays, and ends on the date the student notifies the registrar's office in writing, that (s)he is withdrawing.
IMPORTANT NOTE: No refund or adjustment for course load reductions is made to a continuing student's account for course withdrawals after the last day of add/drop period.

Board Refund Schedule
Students who withdraw from the university or cancel their Room and Board contract prior to the end of the semester will be refunded for the unused portion of their meal plan on a prorated bases. Students bus notify the Director of Residential Life to qualify for the refund.
