Instructor with an Emphasis in STEM

The University of Maine Presque Isle is seeking a three-year, fixed length Instructor to teach STEM methods courses using standards based curriculum in the College of Education. This is a 9 month, non-tenure track position beginning September 1, 2014 and ending May 31, 2017 with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities include 12 contact hours of teaching per semester, advising, and service to the department, university and community. Principle delivery modality would be on-site but could include online, blended and/or synchronous video conferencing.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications are a Master’s in Education with prior teaching (K-12-or college level). Experience teaching elementary math preferred. The successful candidate for the position should have an understanding of contemporary theories, models, assessment, and best practices associated with STEM education and are able to use technology for effective student learning. Knowledge of Common Core shifts and proficiency-based teaching and learning are essential.
