The University of Maine at Presque Isle seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English to start Fall 2014.
Responsibilities: The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, typically two first-year composition and two literary courses. Literature courses to include Anglo-American or world literature survey classes as well as upper level topics courses. Principle delivery modality would be online, onsite blended and/or synchronous video conferencing. The expectations for a tenure track position are: instruction, advising, scholarship, and serving on university-wide and departmental committees.
Requirements: Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in English (or ABD with a firm defense date), as well as excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate one of the following specializations: American literature (nineteenth and twentieth/twenty-first century preferred) or British literature (medieval through 18th century, including Shakespeare, preferred); contemporary world literatures. The successful candidate must be an experienced and enthusiastic composition teacher and have demonstrated prior success in online instructional modalities.
