Assistant Professor of Psychology

Position: University of Maine at Presque Isle-Tenure Track Position in Psychology

 

The Psychology Program of the University of Maine at Presque Isle invites applications for an academic year, tenure-track position. Located in Maine's beautiful north country with its accessibility to numerous lakes, rivers and other picturesque natural features, the University of Maine at Presque Isle serves 1400 students of diverse educational backgrounds and offers a full range of quality academic programs in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Professional Programs, and Teacher Education. The anticipated start date is August 2010. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Typical salary range is $44,256 - $50,000.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate psychology courses, including Principles of Counseling, Abnormal, Lifespan Development, Personality, and General Psychology. The successful candidate will be an experienced instructor and preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated interest in developing a successful online program in undergraduate psychology. The teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester. Other duties include academic advising, university and community service, and scholarly research.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. or Psy.D. with specialization in clinical/counseling or school psychology is preferred but ABD candidates with plans for degree completion no later than summer 2011 will be considered. A dedication to teaching is paramount, but evidence of successful scholarship is also preferred for hire and required for successful tenure.

Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Position: University of Maine at Presque Isle-Tenure Track Position in Mathematics

Responsibilities and duties include teaching a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses, including statistics, pre-calculus, calculus, linear algebra, and upper-level courses required for secondary education mathematics majors. Candidates who are able to also teach college calculus-based general physics are highly preferred. The successful candidate will have experience and success utilizing distance education pedagogies, and preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated vision and ability to develop a successful online program in undergraduate mathematics. The teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester. Other duties include academic advising, university and community service, and scholarly research.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice Program at the University of Maine at Presque Isle seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position to start Fall 2010. (Associate level appointment to be considered for candidates with advanced experience/qualifications).

The ideal candidate will bring real world experience, academic rigor, and engaged pedagogies to foundation courses including: Introduction to Criminal Justice; Criminal Law; Constitutional Law; Policing; Juvenile Delinquency; and Criminal Procedure. Expertise or interest in teaching online courses would be of special interest.
