A new youth ski program is coming to the area this winter with the help of UMPI 2017 alumna Lydia Streinz. The Aroostook County Bill Koch Club, especially for middle school ski racers and other middle grade students interested in cross country skiing, held its kick-off event on Dec. 17 at the Nordic Heritage Center. Bill Koch ski programs are popular around New England and are a big part of the success New England has had with skier development. The club is dedicated to getting kids outside in the winter and learning about cross country skiing through games, skills building, and fun. Sessions will be held on Saturdays starting on Jan. 6 at the Nordic Heritage Center and will be open to all 4th to 8th graders. Price is $15 per child for the season; students will need skis and warm clothing to participate.
