The theme for UMPI's Presidential Inauguration, Linking Generations Through Teaching and Learning, was reflected in a very special way at the start and end of the ceremony. Those participating in the processional and recessional represented all generations of learners, from small children to lifelong learners. Delegations from more than a dozen elementary and secondary schools in the region, as well as many other officials and distinguished guests, marched during the event.
UMPI faculty, staff, visiting dignitaries, alumni, and emeritus faculty were joined by students from more than a dozen elementary and secondary schools in Aroostook County as well as representatives from Northern Maine Community College and Seniors Achieving Greater Education.
Participating schools and organizations included ACAP Head Start, Fort Fairfield Elementary School, Easton Elementary School, Washburn District Elementary School, Teague Park Elementary School in Caribou, Zippel Elementary School in Presque Isle, Mapleton Elementary School, Cornerstone Christian Academy in Presque Isle, Presque Isle Middle School, Van Buren Middle School, Houlton High School, Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill, Carleton Project, Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, and Presque Isle High School.
