Whether you're a student, a community member, or a local teacher looking for field trip possibilities, the University of Maine at Presque Isle offers plenty of opportunities to learn and explore, or just get an all-over workout, at our state-of-the-art facilities.
Built in 1992 as a central location for student events, cultural activities, and state and regional meetings and conferences, our Campus Center provides ample meeting spaces, the Reed Art Gallery, a snack bar, and a radio station booth where you can watch student DJ's at work. Our wellness center, Caroline D. Gentile Hall, offers a wide range of facilities for those who like to stay active. You can play a pick-up game of basketball in our multi-purpose gymnasium, walk on our elevated track, take a dip in our pool, work out in our comprehensive fitness center, or experience our 37-foot-high climbing wall. Our Library offers three floors of books, periodicals and government documents for voracious researchers and bibliophiles alike. And, through our Interlibrary Loan service, a world of books and other publications are at your fingertips. Want to learn about everything from fluorescent minerals and seismometers to Fibonacci numbers and Atlantic Leatherback Sea Turtles? The Northern Maine Museum of Science has a diverse collection of displays and nature areas that focus on themes of Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Agriculture and Forestry. And, while you're there, don't forget to check out the Maine Solar System Model - it starts at the entryway of Folsom Hall and stretches nearly 100 miles to Topsfield, Maine. |
