COVID-19 health and safety guidance

COVID-19 health and safety guidance

As the restrictions and policies connected with COVID-19 continue to evolve, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will provide updated information and resources on this page. Our goal, as always, is to ensure the health and safety of our entire campus community and anyone who visits campus. The most comprehensive and up-to-date information can be found on the University of Maine System’s Together for Maine website. For quick reference, please see below for brief info on vaccination requirements and quarantine and isolation.

Vaccination requirements

Students and employees are strongly encouraged to obtain COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots when eligible, but will not be required to do so.

Quarantine and Isolation

The CDC is no longer requiring a 5-day isolation period for those who test positive for COVID-19; it will be treated the same as cold, flu, and other illnesses moving forward. When dealing with a respiratory virus (like COVID-19), the CDC recommendation is that you can return to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:

  • Your symptoms are getting better overall, AND
  • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication)

UMPI students who are ill and will be missing class should contact the Dean of Students office by emailing Amy Berube, amy.berube@maine.edu, and the office will assist you with contacting professors. To learn more, visit the UMS Together for Maine website (see the Quarantine & Isolation information).
