We’ve undertaken several campus-wide initiatives that help us to further our institutional mission and goals. Chief among these is our commitment to Sustainability. Through our 600 kW wind turbine, our 90-panel solar array, and the biomass boiler and heat pump technology installed in our major classroom building, we are working to reduce our carbon footprint.

We’ve also been working for the past few years to strengthen our connections with several universities and high schools in China. We have collaborative agreements with Siyuan University in Xi’an, China, that allows Siyuan students to travel to UMPI to complete their education in the U.S. and also gives them the option to stay in China and complete coursework that allows them to receive degrees from both Siyuan and UMPI. For the past two summers, the University has hosted a weeklong summer camp that gives Chinese high school students the opportunity to visit and learn in the U.S. In 2014, a UMPI delegation visited China to further develop these partnerships, and a blog of that trip is available here.
