Stephanie Corriveau

UMPI Class of 2012 Bachelors in Biology, Pre-Medical

Update by Stephanie Corriveau, alumna

“I am extremely happy that I made the decision to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle. While at UMPI, I served as a summer research assistant for an on-campus project, participated in multiple short courses at Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory (and also completed a summer internship at this institution), and presented my research at a variety of venues, including UMPI’s University Day, the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, and the University of New England. I also participated in many other campus activities, such as the BioMedical Club, University Times, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, and as a science and Writing Center tutor. The faculty members were always helpful and willing to work with me. They encouraged me and helped me get involved with these activities. I am currently preparing to enter my third year as a medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I have (along with my studies) served as a Teaching Assistant for the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine labs and as a campus tour guide for prospective students. This fall, I will serve as a Neuroanatomy Teaching Assistant for my first clinical rotation before I transition to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor to complete my remaining rotations in family medicine, psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, and surgery. I am proud to be an UMPI alum and of the education I received, which has helped me to reach where I am today!”
