The Presque Isle Community Players, in partnership with UMPI, will present Noises Off, a hilarious British farce from the pen of Michael Frayn on April 8, 9, 15 and 16 at the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. Showtime each evening will be 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Written in 1982 and a recipient of a prestigious Drama Desk award, each of the three acts of Noises Off features a performance of the first act of a play within a play, a poor farce called “Nothing On.” Along with the theatrics on stage, the audience is treated to a peek behind the curtain where the interpersonal turmoil among the cast members begins to wreak havoc on the production.
Some of the area’s most popular actors will appear, including Jeff Ashby, Jim Derosier, Tamia Glidden, Ron McArdle and Mimi Smith. Newcomers to the Players are Donato Champagne, Linda Gover, Morgan Swan and Aaron Swanson. Joe Zubrick is directing and designing both the set and lighting.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (65 and older) and students (18 and under), and are on sale at the information desk at the Aroostook Centre Mall; at Goin’ Postal, 26 North Street in Presque Isle; and in the UMPI Campus Center. Tickets will also be available at the door prior to each evening’s performance.
