The Presque Isle Air Museum welcomed a squadron of nine C-47 aircraft as they flew in to Presque Isle on May 19 for a short layover. The squadron was on its way to France to take part in the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The planes landed at Presque Isle International Airport in the area of the old General Aviation terminal, between 9 a.m. and Noon, and stayed on the ground for approximately two hours. The public was invited and approximately 2,000 people attended to be a part of this historic flight.
The Presque Isle Air Museum, located at the south end of the Presque Isle International Airport terminal, was also open for tours during the event. This year represents the 20th anniversary of the museum, which plans more events later in the summer. FMI, please contact the museum by email at piairmuseum@hotmail.com.
