UMPI will once again serve as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site for qualifying taxpayers. The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make $53,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. The service will be offered on February 20, 27, March 5, 12, 19, 26, and April 2 and 9 in CC118 in the Campus Center and on April 16 in CC112 in the Campus Center all from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. FMI, contact Stacey Emery at stacey.emery@maine.edu.
