Faculty and staff may check books out of the library for one semester, and may renew the books for one additional semester. A faculty/staff identification card must be presented to check out library materials. Overdue reminders are sent one week after the material is due, and a subsequent reminder with the cost of the material sent one week later, if the material still has not been returned.
Students may borrow books from the open stacks for four weeks with one (1) renewal of twenty-eight (28) days. Other material may circulate for shorter periods. A VALIDATED, BARCODED STUDENT ID IS REQUIRED FOR BORROWING. Replacement costs will be assessed for lost books. The accumulation of unpaid library fines and/or bills will result in suspension of library borrowing privileges. Receipts are available when the item is returned to the circulation desk.
If the UMPI Library does not have an item you need, we can usually get it from another library. You can sign up for an electronic form submission through the ILLIAD service here. Please fill out the form as completely as possible: the more information provided, the more certain the librarians will be able to get the item you need. When the item arrives you will be notified by the email you provided in signing up for the service.
