ARAMARK, UMPI present Holiday Dinner Party geared to local businesses

Looking for a simple and cost-effective way to host this year’s business holiday party? Food services company ARAMARK, in conjunction with the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Conferences and Special Programs Office, have come up with a plan that will allow the area’s small- to mid-sized businesses to do just that.

ARAMARK and UMPI are teaming up to host a Business Holiday Dinner in the Campus Center on Friday, Dec. 12 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a meal served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $24 per person or $170 per table of 8. The event will include dancing and a cash bar and provide opportunities to network with other local businesses in a relaxed setting.

Officials with ARAMARK and UMPI brainstormed the idea as a way for the region’s small businesses to enjoy a traditional office holiday party, big crowd-style, without the large bill and weeks of planning typically associated with such an event.

“This is going to be much easier on the wallet than throwing your own party or buying gifts,” Wendy Koenig, Conferences and Programs specialist, said. “We think this is going to be an excellent and cost effective way for local businesses to show their appreciation for their employees during the holidays.”

Organizers may consider hosting similar community events in the future.

“Following the success of this event, we would like to host more that cater to the needs of our community, possibly a New Year’s event or a Mother’s Day dinner,” Rob Ottaviano, ARAMARK’s chef manager at the University, said. “We’re really excited about offering an event like this for the region and hope we can build on these efforts.”

Dress for the holiday event is business casual. Organizers are expecting a crowd, so employers need to book by Dec. 2. For more information, contact Koenig at 768-9501.
