The deadline for compliance with the new Title II regulations on digital accessibility is approaching. We don’t anticipate that everything will be perfect by then, but there is a lot of work to do and you may feel overwhelmed or not sure where to start. Here are our recommendations:
- Ensure that you have read and signed letters in Accommodate and are providing the approved accommodations.
- Use the Ally Course Accessibility Report under the Tools menu to identify and prioritize issues.
- Use Grackle Docs under the Extensions menu to identify and fix issues in your Google files.
- Use the Accessibility tools on the Review tab in Office to identify and remediate issues.
- Start with the major barriers first, such as scanned pdfs, as these are completely inaccessible.
- Use available resources to learn how to make content accessible.
- Use the 15-minute rule: if you are spending more than that to fix an issue, submit a support request.
- Set aside time for this work.
