BIO:
J. Donald Cyr is an Adjunct Lecturer III at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where he shares his expertise in art history and inspires students through his creative practice. Recently, Cyr showcased his artwork in an exhibition titled “Imaginary Greek Landscapes” at UMPI’s Reed Art Gallery. This series features round paintings on gessoed plywood, drawing inspiration from his travels through the Mediterranean.
Beyond the classroom and gallery, Cyr is dedicated to preserving Acadian history. For over 40 years, he has been actively involved in restoring the Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel, a historic church-turned-museum in Lille, Maine. This commitment to cultural preservation reflects his deep connection to local history and mirrors the care and detail evident in his artwork.
