BIO:
Rowena McPherson is an artist and educator, currently serving as both the Director of Creative Services, as well as an Adjunct Instructor of Photography, in the BFA program, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. An introvert, mother, graphic designer, and photographer, Rowena brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to her teaching and artistic practice.
Rowena earned her BFA from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where she developed a strong foundation in the visual arts. Although largely self-taught, her passion for creativity has led her to explore various mediums, including watercolor and charcoal. As the Coordinator of Graphic Design, Social Media, and Photography at her alma mater, she plays a vital role in fostering a creative community on campus.
Residing in Perham, Maine, with her husband Shawn—a talented photographer and writer—and their two children, Lillith and Jacoby, Rowena finds inspiration in her family life. Together, they run Mouse Island Photography, where she serves as a founding partner and lead shooter. Rowena often translates captured moments into artistic renditions, offering watercolor and charcoal portraits as an extension of their photography services.
