What’s Waived?

• Tuition for up to 12 credits per academic year (Summer through Spring) for the Class of 2026. All other qualified students may earn a lifetime total of 18 tuition-free credits, with an annual maximum of 12 tuition-free credits.
• General university student fees.

What is the Student Responsible for?

• Textbooks & any required course materials.
• Course-specific fees (as applicable).
• Tuition for any credits not eligible for MDOE coverage due to student ineligibility or excess credits will be charged $60 per credit hour for concurrent enrollment and $149 per credit hour for on-campus/online courses.

Student bills can be viewed in MaineStreet after a student has successfully enrolled in a course. One paper bill is sent to the student’s address on file. Full payment or enrollment in a payment plan is due on January 15th for the Spring semester and August 15th for the Fall semester.

Failure to pay the balance on a student account may result in account holds that can prevent you from continued enrollment in a subsequent semester, and may impede your ability to acquire your college transcripts.

Payment Options

E-check /ACH (electronic checks) – An electronic debit to a checking or savings account can be made online by logging on to the MaineStreet Student Center. There is no fee for this service.

Credit and Debit Cards (Online Only) – Credit and debit card payments are processed by Touchnet, an external payment processing company. Credit and debit card payments can be made online by logging on to the MaineStreet Student Center. Debit and credit card payments cannot be accepted by UMPI staff in person, through the mail, or over the phone.

• Touchnet will charge a 2.85% (minimum $3.00) non-refundable convenience fee for all credit or debit card payments made to a student account.
• Cards accepted are Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.

Cash and Paper Checks – UMPI accepts cash payments in person. We also accept personal checks, bank drafts, and money orders. Please make checks payable to: the University of Presque Isle and send to:

• Be sure to include the student ID number on the face of the check.

UMPI offers students the opportunity to enroll in a payment plan. Each plan has a non-refundable enrollment fee of $30.00 per semester.
