Internships Opportunities

Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce is seeking a mature student in the business program to develop and setup “Made in Aroostook” sales and promotion program at the Chamber of Commerce office at 3 Houlton Rd. The emphasis is on the areas served by the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce, but items from the rest of the county will not be excluded.

The intern will find, with the assistance of members, a variety of vendors who may be starting their business or looking for an additional opportunity to display their products. We have a short list of vendors who have expressed an interest. Due to the slow turnover and the limited amount of cash to purchase inventory, it would be beneficial to the Chamber if the goods were here on consignment.

The student would be asked to prepare the display area, arrange the accounting for the receipt and sale of goods, develop supplier contacts and relations, in conjunction with the office staff.

There would be a need to present the information to the media for promotion of the location. Obviously this is not a primary business for the Chamber, but due to the number of visitors that stop here and local people looking for information, there is an opportunity to sell locally produced items.

The student would also be responsible for maintaining inventory, i.e. calling suppliers to ensure their product was available.

The student may also be asked at times to assist with the general office activities, answering phones greeting visitors etc.
