Located at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, the partnership is the result of a collaborative effort of the University of Maine at Presque Isle, the Department of Education and the local school districts. The Central Aroostook Math Science Partnership is designed to promote professional development opportunities for area math and science teachers and to increase student achievement in these subjects. The grant will create professional learning communities in math and science in each of the two Career and Technical Education Centers located in the CACE service district. Academic teachers in math and science will meet monthly with CTE faculty to discuss individual student achievement, content rigor, content literacy, Maine Learning Results, and technology applications. The teams may also include faculty from UMPI and practicing professionals in the math or science fields.
