Certification Exam Eligibility

Upon completing the UMPI MLT program, graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). This credential demonstrates your competence to employers and can expand your career options across the US.

Degree Completion and Certification

Successful completion of the MLT program and the awarding of the Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology are not dependent on passing an external certification exam. Graduates leave UMPI fully prepared for entry-level employment, whether or not they pursue immediate certification.
