UMPI showcases L.A. comedian, campus acts during Variety Show

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present a night of comedy and local talent when it hosts UMPI’s Second Annual Variety Show on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. This family-friendly Variety Show will feature acts by students and other members of the campus community, and will be hosted by Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian Noah Copfer. This event is free and open to the public.

Gentile Hall gets $40,000 in new equipment

The Gentile Hall fitness center at the University of Maine at Presque Isle recently installed just over $40,000 in new strength training equipment, replacing the original strength machines installed when the facility opened in January 2006.

With agreements in place with the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce and Momentum Aroostook to receive tuition discounts and free YourPace sessions, the University of Maine at Presque Isle has helped in the development of a third opportunity for the region’s business community. Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce members and their employees, as well as members of Momentum Aroostook, will be able to take advantage of a 12 percent tuition discount on MaineMBA courses at the University of Maine Graduate School of Business.

Multi-instrumentalist Noah Hoehn performs at UMPI

The University of Maine at Presque Isle presents Noah Hoehn for a not-so-typical musical performance on Thursday, Feb 13 at 6 p.m. at the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. A musician from Minneapolis, Minn., Hoehn will explore a variety of melodies and rhythms during his live looping show, featuring a harmonica, marimba, and Indian dhol drum.

Reed Gallery presents Wm. Reeder Fahnestock exhibit

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery presents an exhibit of the work of ceramic artist Wm. Reeder Fahnestock between Jan. 31 and March 20, 2020. Not Your Mother’s Jugs features 19 hand-crafted jugs of varying sizes by the artist. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Gallery Reception on Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. This reception is being held in conjunction with the Presque Isle First Friday Art Walk.

UMPI celebrates MLK Day with Rashaad Johnson

In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will host Rashaad Johnson, motivational speaker and CEO of ImpactU, for a presentation on Realizing the Dream: Celebrating the Ideas of MLK on Monday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center.
