UMPI’s Distinguished Lecturer Series presents nationally renowned educator, filmmaker Jim Keady

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is pleased to present Jim Keady, a nationally renowned educator, activist, and filmmaker, as the last speaker in its 2015-2016 Distinguished Lecturer Series. During his talk, Behind the Swoosh, Keady will focus on sweatshops and social justice as he share stories of his decade-and-a-half-long efforts to end sweatshop abuses. His presentation, which also serves as the keynote address for UMPI’s 15th Annual University Day, will take place on Tuesday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center. This event is free and the public is invited to be a part of this special evening.

UMPI’s Studio 923 hosts Trash to Fashion Show in honor of Earth Day

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Studio 923 Art Club will be hosting its very first Trash to Fashion Show on Earth Day, April 22, 2016. The show, to be held at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall, will feature the fashion design skills of students and community members in a runway show. All creations are made exclusively from recycled materials. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this event; there is a suggested $5 ticket price.

UMPI’s Pullen Art Gallery presents Student Photography Exhibition

The Student Photography Exhibition will be on display from April 1 to 22, with an opening reception on Friday, April 1 from 6-7:30 p.m. during the April First Friday Art Walk. UMPI celebrates Scott’s new poetry collection with reading, book signing

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will celebrate the publication of adjunct faculty member Anthony Dolan Scott’s new poetry collection with a reading and book signing with the poet on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center.
