UMPI presents Lamont with GOLD award

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U program, which focuses on providing workforce development opportunities, will offer a two six-week courses this fall beginning Tuesday, Oct. 10, as part of the American Management Association’s University certificate program. The sessions will be held at the MMG Center for Professional Development, located on the first floor of Kelley Commons, adjacent to the Campus Center.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will mark 25 years of its Campus Center serving as a hub for student activities, community events, and cultural programs when it hosts a special celebration on Friday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. in the MPR. All university and community members are encouraged to attend this free event.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle proudly presents the percussive performance group Plastic Musik for an exhilarating night of music in a way you’ve never heard it before on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium at Wieden Hall. As seen on Season 3 of America’s Got Talent, the group will put a fun twist on some of the greatest hits of our time using all kinds of plastic, including boomwhackers, buckets, and kiddie pools. This performance serves as the main event during the University’s Homecoming 2017: Family and Friends Weekend and is free and open to the public.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present Homecoming 2017: Friends and Family Weekend on Thursday to Monday, Oct. 5-9, featuring entertainment and family-friendly activities. From a show by percussive performance group Plastic Musik to an explosive fireworks display to multiple alumni games for students and the public, all are invited to join the University for its annual Homecoming weekend.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will celebrate the 230th birthday of the signing of the U.S. Constitution by partnering with WUPI 92.1 FM on a Constitution Day radio project on Monday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Campus Center. All are invited to take part in this free, interactive event.
Officials at the University of Maine at Presque Isle are pleased to announce that the institution earned three top rankings on U.S. News and World Report’s 2018 Best Colleges list. In this year’s annual rankings, UMPI was named among the 30 Best Regional Colleges in the North, the 15 Top Public Schools in the North, and the top 3 Regional Colleges in the North for graduates with least debt.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Red Cross Club will host the campus’ annual fall blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 20. This American Red Cross Blood Drive will begin at 10:30 a.m. and run through 6:30 p.m. at the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room. Members of the campus and community are invited and encouraged to participate in this free event; walk-ins are welcome.
Prepare for triple the laughs when hometown favorite Ryan Gartley takes the stage—with two fellow comedians in tow—for a fundraising comedy show at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Auditorium in Wieden Hall. UMPI is partnering with Taco Bell to present this special show. Proceeds will benefit future renovations to the Auditorium in Wieden Hall.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present UnREEDable Words, an exhibit featuring works on paper by Todd Camplin, from August 28 through October 6, 2017. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Gallery Reception on Friday, September 1, from 5-7 p.m., which is being held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk.
