University of Maine at Presque Isle Education students get the opportunity to share their technology expertise with area teachers when they help to facilitate the “Educational Technology to Support Teaching & Learning” workshop in conjunction with the Central Aroostook Council on Education (CACE) this month.
In honor of Black History Month and as a special Valentine’s Day treat, University of Maine at Presque Isle students Lassana and Lossene Dorleh will present an original revue, The Cotton Club: A Journey through the Harlem Renaissance, on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. This special evening is free and open to the public, though donations will be accepted at the door.
The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program of Maine, a collaborative program sponsored by the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the University of Maine at Augusta, has been awarded continuing reaccreditation for 10 years—the maximum length term, based on program quality—from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Maine writer Dr. Éthelle Lord will share her unique approach to Alzheimer’s and dementia care when the University of Maine at Presque Isle hosts her for a reading and book signing on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Campus Center. She will read from her new book Alzheimer and Dementia Coaching: Taking a Systems Approach in Creating an Alzheimer’s Friendly Healthcare Workforce. This event is free and the public is invited to attend; refreshments will be served and attendees are encouraged to stop by early for a short social time starting at 12:45 p.m.
From soulful to brassy, the rich sounds of Motown will fill the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Auditorium in Wieden Hall when the Star City Syndicate performs a special fundraising concert on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. Admission is free for this high energy, family-friendly event, but donations of all sizes will be accepted at the door to benefit future renovations to the Auditorium in Wieden Hall.
Hypnotist Paul Ramsay will leave the crowd second-guessing when he performs his show “Mind Games”—billed as the first truly interactive stage hypnotism show in the world—at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The show will take place in the Auditorium at Wieden Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, and is rated PG-13/R.
Just in time for the Spring 2017 semester, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will be offering up something new at the request of its students: Starbucks in the Owl’s Nest, located in the Campus Center. Sodexo Dining Services, the food service on campus, will be operating a Starbucks “We Proudly Serve” program consisting of blended drinks, espressos and fresh brewed coffee.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery is proud to present Downtown by Heath Paley, from Tuesday, Jan. 17 through Friday, March 24, 2017. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Gallery Reception on Friday, March 3 from 5-7 p.m., which is being held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk. The event will include a Gallery Talk with the artist at 5:30 p.m.
Adult learners aged 55 or better will have a unique opportunity to learn about expressive drawing this spring thanks to a $1,600 matching grant from the Maine Arts Commission and the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
MMG Insurance and the University of Maine at Presque Isle are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the Young Professionals Institute, which is celebrating a special milestone this year: 10 years of providing area professionals with impactful leadership development training.
