Employees honored during recognition event

The University of Maine at Presque Isle honored several employees for their years of service during the Employee Recognition event on May 7. This year’s event recognized employees who marked a milestone anniversary in 2024. Twenty-four employees were recognized for their combined 285 years of service to the University.

Reed Gallery features 2024 Fine Art Senior Thesis Exhibition

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery presents the 2024 Fine Art Senior Thesis Exhibitions by Fine Art majors Amanda Giberson and Lila McCrum from Friday, April 26 to Friday, May 24, 2024. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and meet the artists during the opening reception on Friday, April 26, 6-8 p.m.

Pelletier to speak, McCrea to be honored during UMPI’s 115th Commencement

University of Maine at Presque Isle President Ray Rice has announced that Cathie Pelletier, nationally-acclaimed author and County native, will deliver the commencement address. In addition, Pelletier and David McCrea, former Maine State Representative, local educator, and UMPI alumnus, will receive Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degrees during the University’s 115th Commencement Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Lunar capsule lands at Houlton Center

From Sunday, April 7, until Wednesday, April 10, artist Abigail DeVille’s Lunar Capsule (2023), an interactive sculpture, will go on view at the Houlton Higher Education Center in Houlton, Maine. This collaboration between Bowdoin College and the University of Maine at Presque Isle at the Center offers an exciting complement to a breadth of special programming in association with the upcoming eclipse on Monday, April 8.

UMPI marks total eclipse with “Solar-bration”

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will mark the upcoming total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, with a “Solar-bration”. From 2-4:30 p.m. in the parking areas between Gentile Hall and Folsom-Pullen Hall, all are invited to welcome and witness the total solar eclipse, complete with food, music, activities, and fun.

UMPI to unveil 3-D Sun model on day of solar eclipse

Following a successful, four-month-long fundraising campaign, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will install and unveil a 23-foot-tall, three-dimensional sun model as the newest addition to its Maine Solar System Model, and do so just in time for the total solar eclipse. Installation is expected to get underway this week and the unveiling will take place on Monday, April 8 at 10 a.m. in front of Preble Hall. All are invited to attend this special event.
