The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) offers an active calendar of events designed to engage students, faculty, and the surrounding community. 						1 Broadway Kids in The County presents "Carrie: The Musical" Broadway Kids in The County presents "Carrie: The Musical" November 1, 2025 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Gauvin Family Center for Cultural Arts, Wieden Hall Broadway Kids’ Broadway After Dark program presents a musical adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel. Carrie White is a teenage outcast who longs to fit in. At school, she’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s dominated by her loving but cruelly controlling mother. What none of them know is that Carrie has discovered a special power, and she’s not afraid to use it if pushed too far. Set in the present in the small New England town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie: The Musical features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose). That sense of possibility is at the heart of Learning from Maine, a new video series from Maine Loves Public Schools. UMPI is pleased to be serving as one of six sites throughout the state to host a Learning from Maine screening this fall. The UMPI screening, which takes place on Monday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. in the Campus Center, will feature a Learning from Maine episode focused on Limestone Community School (LCS), followed by a panel discussion moderated by Learning from Maine Executive Producer Robbie Feinberg and featuring Dr. Wendi Malenfant, UMPI Education Program Director and Associate Professor of Education, and two educators from Limestone, Caroline Reed, Limestone Community School Grade 7/8 Math & Science Teacher and Melissa Doucette, Limestone Community School Grade 5/6 Math & Science Teacher. Student Clubs & Organizations:
