The Center for Advancement of Rural Living (CARL) and the University of Maine at Presque Isle hosted “The Mechanics of Organics,” an all-day seminar that covered the aspects of growing organic food, from hobby to small farm agriculture to scaled up operations, on Nov. 3 at UMPI’s Campus Center. The event included speakers from the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Associations (MOFGA), Maine Cooperative Extension, UMPI’s Sustainable Agriculture Program, the University of Maine at Fort Kent Environmental Sciences Program, and some local farmers.
