The Presque Isle Historical Society has a new exhibit on display now through October 27, titled Talking Wires: The Social Impact of the Telephone Switchboard on Rural Northern Maine at the Maysville Museum, 165 Caribou Road, Presque Isle. The exhibit features a restored “toll” switchboard from the Presque Isle Office, oral history interviews with some of the retired switchboard operators from the Presque Isle Office, photos of the “Bellstead” and some of the operators who served here, and antique telephones. The Museum is open Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and admission is free.
