The University of Maine at Presque Isle is proud to present Shakespeare & Company for a one-night-only performance of the Bard’s iconic tragedy Macbeth on Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Gauvin Family Center for Cultural Arts, located in Wieden Hall. Troupe members will provide a short talk-back for the audience after the show. All campus and community members are invited to attend this special, free admission event.

Bold Frontiers: The Intersection of Creativity and Innovation is the theme of the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s 22^nd annual University Day, taking place on Wednesday, April 16, and students will be showcasing that theme in presentations on everything from exploring how movement is expressed in video games using code to the impact of social isolation on older adults.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present Owen McCarthy, co-founder of MedRhythms and leader in neurotherapeutics, as a 2024-2025 Libra Distinguished Lecture Series speaker on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center. McCarthy will deliver a talk titled Harnessing Technology, Music, and Neuroscience to Transform Healthcare: The MedRhythms Story.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle and Wintergreen Arts Center are teaming up to present Empty Bowls—a fundraiser that offers up hand-crafted ceramic bowls and homemade soup to fight hunger on a local scale—and are asking community members to save the date and consider helping out. The event, returning after a seven-year hiatus, will take place on Friday, April 25, 5-7 p.m. at Wintergreen Arts Center in the Aroostook Centre Mall.

Junior Achievement of Maine will host its 19th Annual JA Titan Challenge for high school students on Thursday, April 3, with the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) serving as the northernmost location.

Williams will deliver a presentation titled What’s So Wrong with a Pity Party Anyway? The public is encouraged to attend this free event, which will also be offered virtually through Zoom.

Students from across the University of Maine System gathered in Aroostook County earlier this year for a week full of hands-on learning experiences connected with tourism, recreation, and surviving outdoors in the winter, thanks to the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s participation in a statewide program focused on growing Maine’s tourism industry.
