Officials at the University of Maine at Presque Isle are pleased to announce that the institution earned four top rankings on U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges list. In this year’s annual rankings, UMPI was named among the top tier of Best Regional Colleges in the North, the 20 Top Public Schools in the North, the top 10 Regional Colleges in the North for graduates with least debt, and the top 30 Regional Colleges in the North for Social Mobility.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present Glenna Johnson Smith: Writer, Artist, Teacher from Oct. 4 to Nov. 22, 2024. The exhibition will celebrate the life and work of well-known writer, teacher, and long-time Presque Isle resident Glenna Johnson Smith (1920-2020) and will feature manuscripts, original artwork, and other memorabilia.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host John Cariani, a Tony Award-nominated actor, accomplished playwright, and author who was born and raised in Presque Isle, as the next speaker in its 2024-2025 Libra Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday. Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center. During his talk, Cariani will read from his recent work, Almost Maine–a novel and a new short story from the world of Almost Maine. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present author and educator Dr. Andrew Dolloff as the first speaker in its 2024-2025 Libra Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present UMPI Fine Arts Faculty, featuring original artwork by all five members of UMPI’s Fine Arts studio faculty, from Sept. 6 to 27, 2024.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will present Homecoming 2024: Spirit Week + Alumni, Friends, and Family Weekend from Sept. 9 to 15, featuring sporting events, the Snowy Owl Marketplace, a performance by the County Community Players, and much more!
