UMPI Stands with the People of Israel

Dear UMPI Community,

The University of Maine at Presque Isle stands with those across higher education in our unequivocal condemnation of the terroristic attacks against the nation and people of Israel.  The indiscriminate acts of violence committed against civilians, including murder and kidnapping, are rightfully held in ignominy and horror by all who work across ideologies and political beliefs to make this a safer world for each of us.

The importance of our values of inclusion, respect, and dialogue are, if anything, made only more urgent by horrific events such as these.  It is vital today, more than ever, that we continue to practice and model these values in the face of violence and terror.

I encourage students or others in need to contact UMPI’s Student Support Services (768-9732, mary.barbosa@maine.edu), our Dean of Students (768-9518, sarah.coyer@maine.edu), or our counseling services (768-9791, ralph.mcpherson@maine.edu) for support and resources.
