University of Maine at Presque Isle Wind Project
UMPI Seal
Status Update: May 11, 2012
Immediate repair work has been completed on the UMPI wind turbine and, though there is still further fine tuning needed, it is currently generating electricity. Work continues on restoring the data gathering system for the turbine and the website so live wind data can be displayed. Until then, officials can report that since the second week of November, the wind turbine has generated 314,474kwH of electricity.

Live Turbine Data

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is committed to sharing information about our wind turbine with area residents, the people of Maine, and all others who want to know where a sustainable energy project can take them.

University officials partnered with the turbine's manufacturer, the general contractor and Honeywell Corporation to create a first-of-its-kind online program that displays important, up-to-the-minute data points about UMPI's turbine - such as the latest wind speed figures and power generation in kilowatt-hours - all in one spot, for public use, on this website. You can view this brand new program by clicking here or by clicking on the "View Live Wind Data" button to your right.

Because this program is new, there are a limited number of data points available at this time, but as officials refine this program, more data points will be added.
