UMPI Class of 2010 Bachelors in Elementary Education

Update by Danielle Glidden, alumna

” I remember my senior year in high school traveling up to Aroostook County, enamored by the beauty of the drive. As soon as I walked onto UMPI’s campus, I knew this was the college for me. I loved that the classes weren’t packed and that professors knew your name and genuinely cared! I graduated with my Associate’s Degree in 2005 and began working at a great school in Midcoast Maine as an Ed Tech in a behavioral classroom. Although I loved what I did and the students that I worked with, I wanted my own classroom. I began taking classes to finish up what I needed to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2010! I began looking for teaching positions in the Midcoast area (such a beautiful spot) and worked a year as an Ed Tech in Title One before a position opened up. I applied for the Technology Coordinator/Media Specialist at South Bristol School, a little school down on the coast with a small population of students in the class. I knew this was the place for me because of my experience in classes at UMPI, I wasn’t just a name, I was a person that the staff and professors wanted to see graduate and succeed in the world! That’s how it is here at South Bristol. I will be forever grateful to all who helped me succeed in my education and I am glad that I am able to provide that same opportunity to my students! My wings have taken me to a job that I love and enjoy everyday!”
