Update by Ethelle Lord, alumna

Dr. Éthelle G. Lord is the President and Founder of the International Caregivers Association (ICA). She earned a Master’s of Education in Counseling from the University of Maine at Orono in 1992 and her Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2010. Dr. Lord served as president of the Maine Gerontological Society in the State of Maine for two terms in the 90’s and has worked as a professor of Organizational Behavior at several universities. Most recently (2016) she became a GSHS(TM) Practitioner and was head researcher in achieving remission in dementia with study participants.

Éthelle is married to Maj. Larry S. Potter, USAF retired who was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia in Jan. 2003 following his triple bypass surgery in 1999. She will tell you that she has 12 years of experience as a “pack leader” for her husband. She realized early on in this role that there is an urgent need for a change in the way dementia care is delivered to care receivers. She also realized how caregivers lack support and guidance through this process. It was because of this that she had a brilliant vision of changing the course of dementia care by initiating and supporting change in all regions of the world through training and education.

Dr. Lord lives in Mapleton, Maine and is available for presentations, training, and Alzheimer’s coaching/consulting.
