Faculty Development Offerings at the Center for Teaching & Learning

Ongoing Support for UMPI Faculty

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) at the University of Maine at Presque Isle is dedicated to supporting faculty in every stage and role of their faculty journey. From hands-on workshops to ongoing communities of practice, we provide opportunities to grow as educators, connect with colleagues, and explore innovative approaches to teaching, learning, research, and service.

Find us on the first floor of South Hall in the Conference Room or in our offices. You can reach us by email at umpi-ctl@maine.edu and Book an Appointment with any of us.

Signature Annual Events

Full-Day Faculty Workshops

We host three full-day workshops each year—one before the start of each semester (Fall, Winter, and Summer). These in-depth sessions focus on updates from campus offices as well as timely topics in course design, pedagogy, technology, and assessment, giving you the time and space to prepare for the semester ahead.

Full-day faculty workshops

ID & Tea

A casual, drop-in space to chat about course design, pedagogy, and instructional challenges. Bring your questions, ideas, or simply come to listen and learn. Our Instructional Designers are here to help over a cup of tea.

Lunch & Learn

Once a month, join us for lunch-hour sessions on a variety of teaching topics. Guest speakers share their expertise, and discussions spark fresh ideas you can use right away in your own courses.

Book Club

Each semester, our book club explores a thought-provoking work on teaching and learning. The conversations are engaging, collaborative, and a great way to connect with peers who share your curiosity.

Faculty Learning Community

Engage in scholarship that examines teaching and learning. This group offers a supportive environment to share research ideas, refine methods, and explore publication opportunities.

Faculty Peer Coaching

Work one-on-one or in small groups with colleagues to reflect on your teaching, observe one another’s classes, and give constructive feedback in a supportive, non-evaluative setting.

CTL Office Hours

Every week, Instructional Designers set aside time in the CTL Conference Room on the first floor of South Hall and in Zoom for you to drop in and ask questions or just hang out and drink a cup of coffee before class. Check the CTL calendar below for the next session.
