UMPI hosts 116th Commencement

One thousand two hundred and seventy-eight students graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday, May 10, during the University’s 2025 Commencement Exercises—more than double the number of students who graduated last year and, for the second year in a row, the largest-ever graduating class in the institution’s history.

Breen to speak during UMPI’s 116th Commencement

University of Maine at Presque Isle President Ray Rice has announced that Yellow Light Breen, President and CEO of the Maine Development Foundation (MDF), will deliver the commencement address. In addition, Breen will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the University’s 116th Commencement Exercises, to be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Shakespeare & Co. to perform Macbeth

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is proud to present Shakespeare & Company for a one-night-only performance of the Bard’s iconic tragedy Macbeth on Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Gauvin Family Center for Cultural Arts, located in Wieden Hall. Troupe members will provide a short talk-back for the audience after the show. All campus and community members are invited to attend this special, free admission event.

UMPI celebrates 22nd University Day

Bold Frontiers: The Intersection of Creativity and Innovation is the theme of the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s 22nd annual University Day, taking place on Wednesday, April 16, and students will be showcasing that theme in presentations on everything from exploring how movement is expressed in video games using code to the impact of social isolation on older adults.
