UMPI hosts 1st annual Variety Show
UMPI will host its First Annual Variety Show on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. This family-friendly Variety Show will feature acts by students, faculty, and staff, and will be hosted by Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian, actor, and voice actor Justin Rupple. His amazing impressions are featured on the new USA show First Impressions with Dana Carvey, and he’ll appear in the upcoming film Operation Chromite, starring alongside Liam Neeson. You won’t want to miss this special evening!

Ayoob, Roe featured in Maine Women Magazine
Two members of the UMPI community were recognized for the work they do advocating for girls in Maine in a recent issue of Maine Women Magazine. Carol Ayoob, UMPI adjunct faculty member in the Art program, was featured for the work she does as Executive Director of Mainely Girls, and Jennifer Roe, a 1989 UMPI alumna, was featured for the work she does as the Executive Director of A Company of Girls. Congratulations to Ayoob and Roe on being featured by the statewide magazine for the work they do every day to support young women in the state.

Experience of the Arts class offering Community Coffeehouse and Open Mic
Carol Ayoob’s Experience of the Arts Class is hosting a Community Coffeehouse and Open Mic every Thursday night, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Owl’s Nest. Musicians, poets and any others who are interested are invited to attend. There will be a featured musician each week and a sign in sheet for anyone who wants to play or recite their original poetry. UMPI hosting Think Pink games
Join us for our 8th Annual Think Pink Basketball Games. This year, the games will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 with teams playing against UMFK. The men’s game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the women’s game at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children and UMPI students get in free. Remember to wear your pink! All proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society.
Come and have supper with us, watch some great basketball games, and have fun. Bring the family, tell your friends, and bring your high school/middle school basketball players. Let’s fill up Wieden Gym with fans — a great time will be had by all!
Help us to raise awareness and money for cancer and have a great time at the games. This year’s Think Pink Games will include:

Salmagundi Film Series Spring 2019
The Salmagundi Film Series will present three films for the Spring 2019 semester. This semester, the series will feature a “dinner and a movie” option. Attendees will be able to purchase an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner in Kelley Commons for a reduced fee of $9.50 and bring their meal in to the MPR to eat while they watch the film. The first film, The Hate U Give, will be shown on Feb. 11. The second film, Hidden Figures, will be shown on March 12. The last film of the semester, Paper Tigers, will be shown on April 23. All films start at 6 p.m. and are in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Campus Center.
