Dear Class of 2019:
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to celebrate the completion of your academic program at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s 110th Commencement, which will be held in Wieden Gymnasium on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m.
All students completing their degree requirements are invited to participate. Attendance is not mandatory for any candidate, however, it is hoped that you will consider attendance an opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments with friends and family.
For those who aren’t able to join you in person for graduation, this year’s event will be live streamed. Just go to any page of the umpi.edu website and look at the top of the page for the link to the livestream, which will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. on graduation day. You can also directly access the livestream by visiting umpi.edu/livestream.
Tickets for Commencement will be available starting Wednesday, April 3rd in the Registrar’s Office, 231 Preble Hall. Students who are marching may have up to six tickets for seating in the gymnasium. You must come in person to get your tickets. Overflow seating will be available in Wieden Auditorium. Tickets are not required for seating in the auditorium.
Special formal graduation announcements, which you may want to send to family and friends, will be available beginning Wednesday, April 3rd in the UMPI Campus Store, Campus Center. Purchase price is $1.00 each.
Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns for undergraduates must be ordered online at buildagrad.com/umpi. Prospective graduates planning to march must complete the online form by Friday, April 12th. Caps, gowns, and tassels will be available for pick-up at the Campus Store after Monday, May 7th, open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Payment is due at the time of pick-up.
Mouse Island Creatives (MIC) will be taking everyone’s photo during graduation. Individual and group portrait sessions will also be available by appointment the week of graduation. The purchase of graduation pictures is completely optional.
Diploma frames are available for purchase at the Campus Store. The frames have a mahogany finish, and the mat is imprinted with the University’s logo, under glass. Cost is $75 each.
The Campus Store will be open Friday, May 10th until 4:30 p.m., and on Commencement day from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. They have an assortment of clothing, glassware, and University memorabilia.
Rehearsal for Commencement will be Friday, May 10, at 2p.m. in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall. Please be on time. Your cooperation will make this rehearsal short and will contribute to the smooth running of Commencement events.
Commencement Ceremony Schedule
- Assembly and Robing: 9:30 a.m., cafeteria, Kelley Commons Graduates will robe according to degree as listed in the Commencement program. In the event of rain, assembly and robing will take place in the Auditorium in Wieden Hall.
- Processional: 10:30 a.m.
- Reception: A reception will be held in the Campus Center immediately following Commencement for all graduates, their family and friends.
